The best free way to market your website

Think about it… who’s the best potential client for you, realistically? It’s the folks you already know, who trust you and like you!

So, how do we keep what we do (and our new fancy website!) on the tops of their minds? An email signature is a great start, and best of all, it’s super easy!

How to setup an email signature in gmail

So there you have it! Other programs are similar, like Outlook, Yahoo, or hotmail. Just search for settings > signature.

By simply adding your website url into your email signature, you’re getting a free way to reach people who already know and like you.

You can add basic styling with the gmail text editor (add links, change colors, add a small image). Want something fancier, like to float your headshot (or logo or another image) to the left of your contact info like in my example above? You’ll need a little coding help.

Here’s how you do it:

<img src="www.yourwebsite.com/logo.png" style="float:left; margin-top:5px; margin-right:10px" /> Your name <br/ > Your phone number <br /> yourwebsite.com<br />

Just copy/paste this code into the text field of your website, then click over to the visual editor and copy/paste the result into the gmail signature field.

Want more white space around the image or to bump it up or down a bit? You can tweak the margin-top and margin-right numbers until it looks good. Remember a pixel (px) is a unit of measurement and most screens show about 100 pixels per inch.

Not the DIY type? contact me and I’ll make the signature of your dreams for you, no coding required!
